It'll Screw Your System Pretty Good!!! June 21, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought Nuts & Bolts awhile back, and I must say that this was the worst thing I have ever put my money into. It loads your memory up with little useless programs that are supposed to help you. All they did was slow me down and caused numerous problems. To me it seems that Nuts & Bolts has a screw loose. I bought this program for around $50 when it first came out, and I ended up paying over $100 for a computer repair shop to fix the computer. I wish Amazon had a zero star choice, because 1 is too good for it. If you are looking for a utilities package, go to Norton because they are more reliable, faster, and easier to use.
Not Up To What It Claims. March 1, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All I wanted was something to help me understand what was happening and why my computer was acting the way it did sometimes. Had more troubles after I put the programs on the computer.Even the Uninstaller didn't do a complete job. On the first restart (and several afterward) after the so called 'Uninstall', I had 'Program Path Unknown Error' until I reinstalled the programs. I had to reformat my hard drive to get rid of the problem.
Ditto!! January 8, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My first problem was with the DiscoverPro utility. The more I used it the more the Bomb Shelter utility window appeared saying that the program had caused a conflict and had to be shut down or that I could click the "Rescue" button to keep it running. I had to click the Rescue button 4 or 5 times during the course of using this utility. Ironic, that the main use of Bomb Shelter was to rescure their own program from crashing!! Although I do have crashes from time to time, it is not as much as in the past as I think software is getting better. But obviously McAfee's isnt so they created this patch program to keep thier lousy junk running. Second problem was on the second reboot with McAfee installed I recieved an error message upon bootup that a critical file for my CD Creator software is now missing so I will probably have to re-install that. Third problem is I cant play DoomII in a window like I used to (yeah, I still play DoomII!!). At this point I decided to uninstall Nuts & Bolts but like the other posters here I have found that it will not uninstall completely. Nuts & Bolts is cheaper than Norton or System Suite which usually start at around $50 but I should have listened to that inner voice that was wispering to me "You get what you pay for!"
DO NOT BUY THIS! August 8, 2000 Do not buy this unless you are planning on sabotaging your computer! It does way more harm than help! It slowed down my system, and I could not restart properly without millions of errors coming up on the screen. Because of this "Nuts & Bolts", I am now searching Amazon for a good UNINSTALLER, because I can not get it off of my system!
Leave it on the shelf! July 9, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nuts and Bolts does more against your system than it actually fixes. First of all, it loads a bunch of junk into your memory and slows your PC down, even though it says it will optimize and tune up your computer. And its utilities included in it sometimes crash, and I don't see how this helps the computer run better. My advice is to just leave it on the shelf!
