Whistler Pro 78 - EXCELLENT Radar Detector November 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this unit about 2 months ago from a vendor on Amazon. Have had several opportunities to put it through the paces - day trips as well as a trip driving from NYC to FL. The unit performed flawlessly! Detected tons of radar traps, a few laser traps, and gave me adequate warning to adjust my speed accordingly. Nice product. Great display. Great feature set. Superb customer service from Whistler too! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a radar detector in this price range.
Don.t Buy it. October 21, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful

Great Buy October 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a lot of searching before making this purchase, I read quite a few reviews that said that this is one of the few mid ($100) radar detectors that can actually perform close to the top end detectors which are in the ($400) range. I was most impressed with the quality, range of detection and ability to grab my attention over loud exhaust and a sound system. The car I use it on is a 96 Camaro Z28 and I have it mounted low on the windshield which seems to work and look the best. BUY IT!
Valentine One reception, with Wal Mart pricing. October 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It took me a few days to find a new detector I wanted, and with the ratings for this unit that I found online, I decided to give it a whirl. MAN I'm glad I did! Testing on several sites have shown performance equal to, or better than, the often vaunted Valentine One ($500), for obviously MUCH less.
Pros.
1. EXTRAS! I couldn't believe it, this unit comes with a cigarette lighter adapter, AND a 12v hardwire unit (so you can wire it directly and not use the lighter plug, these are usually around $30 or more), and a non slip dash pad.
2. Customizable. Don't like the startup self test? Turn it off. You know your entire state doesn't use X band radar? Turn that detector off. You can turn off every feature you don't want to use, and it has a ton of filters and quiet modes, including 3 different city modes.
3. Saves your settings so you don't have to reset stuff every time you start it.
4. Very little glare introduced to your windshield because if it's mostly dark colors.
5. Detects everything, everywhere, easy to understand, and easy to use.
Cons.
1. No GPS. For a unit at this price, you can't really expect it to have GPS built in, but hopefully they'll put it in a newer version of this unit.
2. Instruction manual is a bit cluttered, and could use some work.
That's it, this unit is frigging fantastic, can't recommend it enough.

I am not a speeder but when you travel thru areas with small towns, you can turn a corner and the speed changes suddenly! These are speed traps and police love them for revenue!! fight back with a radar detector.
