Excellent! December 1, 2008 I read the posted reviews and picked this one. I am not sorry. It works well nearly "right out of the box" with my desktop computer and I archived 50G of podcasts and used the litescribe feature. I am looking forward to doing the same on my laptop. As with everything, there are some upgrades to deal with, but they are free and worth it. Plan on devoting an hour on broadband, and don't be frustrated. When have you ever bought something that didn't want to go to the internet and upgrade itself. Just be glad you can drive a car off the lot without a firmware and software upgrade (for now).
Convenient and Works With Ubuntu Linux November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to go with the MSI Microstar WindBook U100-286MY 10" Notebook - Black, which doesn't have a built in dvd drive. I haven't experienced any problems so far with this dvd drive. No improperly burned disks etc. Ubuntu recognizes this just fine.
External was never so good October 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was pleseantly suprised at how quick and easy this burner installed and how easy it is to use. The lightscribe is a great addition. It is really fast and quiet too.
Inconsistent performance September 15, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using this dvd writer for about two months now. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it doesn't. It plays movies without a hitch, but I end up throwing out about half the dvds I try to burn either because it aborts in the middle of the burning process or because the final dvd won't play (either on my computer of my dvd player). I bought it to replace an internal dvd writer, which worked with my existing software for years, so I know the problem is not with the software or my system. I'm not happy and would not buy this product again, knowing what I now know about it.
Performs As Advertized September 10, 2008 Never had a external burner before and this one works great. Easy to use Nero software for whatever you want to do.
